| Type in Well, I'm no expert but this is what I've seen....
The hyphen kills it - have you ever typed in something with a hyphen?
I understand some search engines see the hyphen as "invisible, but a new domain isn't go to show on a search engine search for forever anyway without developing it (ie backlinks, SEO, etc.). So even though garagedoors dot com gets traffic, garage-doors dot com might only see 1/100 of that (if that). Like garage-doors dot us (even worse).
As far as traffic....
I bought a couple of domains names with a couple hundred unique visitors a month, even saw the real stat page....
BUT what the previous owner didn't tell me was that it was on some kind of rotation at a couple of "surfing" sites.... Sites that if you sign up and "surf" their sites, their users "surf" your sites....
So, on one hand he wasn't totally full of BS, because there really was traffic there - but on the other hand it wasn't "natural" traffic, it was "surfing" traffic.... Surfing traffic doesn't give a click, it gives an impression, that's it.
Hope that helps a little....
