Help! CTR/adsense question...am I right?

I know this has been asked before, but could experienced people please confirm that:

less than 4% is poor

5-8% is good

9-12% is excellent

13% plus could get you scrutinized by google

Or, what is your experience?

I wouldn't worry about CTR so much. Take a look at EPC and eCPM.

And regardless, it varies so much between niches and sites and accounts, it's really difficult to come up with a standard.

I hear you netmeg, but I do also worry about CTR when it comes to things like my site's layout, the type of adsense that is showing up, the quality of traffic, etc.

Rebies is an unknown quantity at this point

You can acheive higher with a well thought out site design. I don't think you will get scrutinized for just having a high CTR.

Does anyone have a good solid 1 page adsense optimized page. If i had a nice topic and wanted to put adsense ads around it with a couple solid articles on 1 page plus a couple affiliate banners, does anyone have a template with proven CTR? I am willing to pay. I see things around when i google, but nothing that is proven, I am looking for something that Namepros members have had success with.

CoolMark is on a distinguished road

I find that the more visitors one of my sites gets, the lower my CTR is. I look upon it as success, because those are the sites that earn more money....

A really, really, boring page might have a good CTR but that's because they don't like your page. Do the clicks actually convert? Probably not.

More than likely if your site, or page, isn't particularly interesting, but the links are better, you'll get a really bad PPC for the links and your visitors won't return to your site anyway.

If your site is genuinely fantastic, and your visitors love to return to it, and they tell their freinds about it, that means you've done something right. Very right.

Your CTR percentage will be lower than you've ever seen, because your site is so good, only a tiny percentage will click your links...

But a tiny percentage of 1000 uniques a day will be much better than your 50% CTR on your domain that only get 3 visitors per week.

What's more is that your site will rank higher in search engines, have more backlinks from enthusiastic users, and more new traffic than any site with high CTR links.

They say that "content is king" and maybe you'll find that the better your content is, the lower your CTR will be, and the more money you'll earn, simply because you get so many more visits.

Very true; and also the EPC. My fireworks site is, of course, seasonal - I have a low traffic for at least half the year, but with a fairly high CTR and EPC. But as soon as the traffic starts picking up (usually around April) both those numbers start creeping down; by June/July, when I get up to 65,000 visits per day, they're a lot lower, but I make it up in volume, with several thousand clicks per day.
