Do you think that customization is better in terms of CTR or do you have better results using the default landing page and just working with the Title and Keywords?

It depends on the type of a domain. I have a typo domain for which I am using the default landing page, I added good keywords and the CTR is pretty nice.

Some domains are doing better with a custom landing page. However, every domain is different and some need to be tested with different landing pages. Another point is that with the customization (good unique article) you can get your domain indexed in SEs.
