Cool Question about META and keywords

Hello guys,

I got 2 questions now about META tags. (hopefully the correct forum?)

Okay, first...Do META tags really effect your website listing in search engines?

Second..I don't really understand a few META tags and what they actually do..like;
robot,
revisit-after

Now, for keywords, how do I write the correct combination of keywords? is quantity over quality here? example. If you're a web host, would you type a very long line of keywords or small targeted one.

example: web, web host, hosts, hosting, webhost, webhosts, web hosting, webhosting..so on

or just web host, web hosting, hosting..

or different than these?

I wish to know how does it matter with Search Engines, and which is recommended? --

Hey,

Well meta tags dont really improve your listings in search engines. Some search engines still give importance to meta tags, some don't.

I think you are reffering to the tags :
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=94526

<meta name="robots" content="index,follow"> - this will allow your site to be indexed by search engines and to follow the links present on your web site

<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"> - this won't allow search engines to index or site or to follow the links on your site.

<meta name="revisit-after" content="number of days"> - this tag tells a search engine to revist your site after a number of days. Of course that search engines dont "listen" to this tag.. they will visit your site every time they feel like it

As for keywords - it is quality over quantity. Don't use the same keyword more then 3 times in your meta keywords and don't use excessive keywords. Place around 10-12 keywords.

Good luck

So you mean : web, web design, web templates, web solutions. That's Wrong!
and web, web design, web templates. That's Correct?

Your help is appreciated, thank you a lot.

dejaone is an unknown quantity at this point

meta tags aren't important for SEO any more. Some still use 'keywords' and 'description' meta tags in their pages.

Yes, hehe..
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=94526
I had a site before and it was indexed in google, guess what? They list in this format:

Title,
Description

The title & description didn't look the way I want them, they were only a few silly words that don't explain anything about the site. Why this happen?

Is it error at my end (website)? and If it is, how can I setup it correctly for Google, so that It can read it correctly. Like this;

Namepros
The place to discuss, sell, and buy domains.
http://www.namepros.com

But in my website case, the DESCRIPTION part was horrible, just a few selected words from page that don't belong to site purpose.

Last thing about Google here, when do they index new websites? and when they revisit this website to index more pages?

Thank you a lot, just a total newbie with SEO here.
