What kind of contest should I have?

Hello Npers and Domain Pimps,

What type of contest should I hold for my blog and what types of prizes would interest you as a domainer in participating in such a contests? I have thought about simply giving away cash like Francois did with his premium domains slogan contest, but I rather provide the contest winner with a tangible product that they can use. Let me know what you guys think, the contest would be for my blog: DNPimping Domaining News, Tips, Tutorials, Videos
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/marketing-techniques/596896-what-kind-contest-should-i-have.html

My main goal is to increase the exposure of the site and have a bit of fun while doing so. Thanks in advance to all of those that take the time to reply to this thread.

Best Regards,

Jason Thompson

These are definitely some good choices. I especially like:

4)Sedo Starting Bids on contest winner/s Domains.

This is definitely something I will consider. What kind of contest do you feel this prize would work well with?

Get the site a fresh new look, logo,SEO,one way backlinks, directory submissions etc and depending on the difficulty level you can choose the prizes that you are going to give for that particular task.

Example-5 Sedo Starting bids of $60 each for the person who will get your site on first two pages of google for "domain blogs" or "domaining blogs".

Edit: Getting quality articles for your site from Pro Domainers for a sedo starting bid is also a good idea IMHO.

I'm more of a fan of cash prizes - that's something everyone could use. When you start talking tangible items, you have shipping and perhaps the fact that someone might already have what you're giving away.

As for the contest, one suggestion is to have a trivia contest with answers that depend on what you write about in your blog posts. Each entry with a correct answer, gets 1 entry into the draw.

This will bring people back each week to read the newest article, and answer the latest trivia question!

Sounds like the first contest will be a cash prize. =)

The trivia idea is definitely a good suggestion. Maybe a fill in the blank question:

I domain because I (_BLANK_) to do it. For those that answer correctly they would get an automatic entry into the contest.

What kind of trivia would you suggest? Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Good suggestions, I've already taken care of the design aspect of the blog. I have received nothing but positive comments in regards to it. As far as SEO is concerned, I will look into this more. I am more so concentrating on good blog entries as well as content that people want to read. Thanks again for the suggestion.

A GoDaddy gift certificate would be a pretty cool domainer gift -- you can even get them to send the buyer a physical card so it feels tangible

I would be willing to bet one of the cheap netbooks would make for a popular contest as well.

Good Luck!

Something to encourage your visitors to spend time on your site...

For example:

-In May I participated in an auction for:____________

-I got three solid leads for my computer business for only $___

These could only be answered if the visitor read your articles. (great looking site by the way!)

Perhaps 1 new question every time you write a new article. Plus give a bonus entry for subscribing to your newsletter.

Good suggestion by Reece! godaddy certificates would be cool, and I could also use a netbook!

Reece, I didn't even realize GoDaddy had gift certificates until you mentioned it. That is an excelent idea! I thought about those netbooks as well. If I can find one under $100 I would definitely consider it. Thanks for the reply.

BTW, would you be willing to place a link on your site for a link on mine? Let me know here or feel free to PM me thanks.
