![]() | Can I maybe get a couple tips? I'm pretty new to owning a website and making it popular and getting lots of hits/members. So my question is this: How can I promote my website so that I get more members and so that people will visit my site. Basically, how can I market my site better then I already am. Basically what I'm doing right now is using those "submit to all search engines" sites and I submit my site and a little about it. I also have my meta tags updated, and I have a mailing list for all my users that I mail once a week or so. I have made a youtube video which seems to be getting some hits, but thats about it. Basically my site is a social network for domainers. It's a neat concept because I have a forum, a messaging script (so people can private message back and forth), friends (so you can be friends with people and see their updates), as well as a section for users to list their domains/established sites for sale. Basically its an all in one site. My problem is just getting users. Do you think a good idea would be to make some banners and try to see if sites would like to put them on their site if I pay them? I also link to other peoples sites if they link back. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/marketing-techniques/593794-can-i-maybe-get-couple-tips.html I really think I have a great idea and I don't want to see it flop just because I can't market things very well at the moment. So please give me some tips, I would really appreciate it. Thanks! |

I say this because that particular question usually answers itself or becomes obvious when a good site plan is involved. If your site is complete and you still don't know the answer you need to either revamp your plans or revisit your business model. Visit similar sites to see what clicks, where the weaknesses lie, what solution you can provide better, etc. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=593794 Good luck!

![]() | Maybe I phrased something wrong... I'm looking for new innovative ideas that will help me get my site out there to new users as well as different places to add banners from my site to. |

![]() | Here are some ways to promote your site : 1. Forum signatures. Promote your site via forum signatures. This can help you get backlinks for your site as well. You can kick start this by creating a signature link to your site here in Namepros ! Forums with higher PR the better. 2. Social Bookmarks. Promote your site by social bookmarking. Add links to sites such as delicious , stumbleupon, reddit etc. 3. Directory submissions. Submit your site to directories. Preferably directories with high PR. 4. Word of mouth. Tell your family and friends about your site. You can even ask them to spread your site for you. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=593794 There are many ways to promote your site , do a research on this. To keep members and visitors at your site , you need to know your readers well , know who they are. Make sure you write articles of good quality and articles that interest them. When you have articles with essence , i'm sure you'll build some traffic and many people would link back to your site, thus helping you promote your site automatically. One way to increase backlinks to your site is making an advertisement banner of your site like what you have said , however , imo, this would only work when you have loyal site visitors. There are many information out there in the web that can help you with your site. Do a search on the net.Read Articles daily to improve your knowledge. Building a site is not easy , have patience. Good luck with your site !

![]() ![]() | "Basically what I'm doing right now is using those "submit to all search engines" sites and I submit my site and a little about it" I suggest that you manually submit your site to only top few SEs. Submitting site to many SEs will not help. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=593794 If your site get some backlinks, then you don't even have to submit your site to SEs, as SEs will find your site automatically. You should use Google Webmaster Tools submit sitemaps [also use Yahoo Explorer, and MSN webmaster center]. The best way to get more traffic/members is to improve your site's SERPs. This will happen with SEO: add excellent content in your site and things will get better.

![]() | Thanks for the replies guys! These tips are basically what I have been doing so far. The problem is, I cant seem to get members to use the site to it's fullest. What I mean is, they use one feature and never come back to it... I have a mailing service where I send an email to every user once a week notifying them on updates and new content, but that doesn't seem to be working too well. |

![]() | Submitting to search engines is not a service that good seo firms do, not for a couple of years now. But, submitting your xml sitemap when new content is posted on your website is a good thing. Tips that Brendona wrote are good, you might add: - Article publishing - Social media websites: Facebook fan page, Squidoo Lens, Hubpages... - Maybe get some blog reviews also Those are all good things to promote your website and help your search engine rankings Good luck! Cheers |

The first step in promotion is actually telling people about it! ![]() There is no magic way that will get you traffic above and beyone all the othe hundreds or thousands looking for that same traffic. It comes down to hard work and/or money. On the basis that you are looking for domain-savvy members you should be concentrating your efforts on posting away on all domain, web hosting and web design forums and blogs. This will put your site in the eye of the right people. The more you post and become active in a community the more clicks to your site will result. The next issue is getting them to come back, especially in the case of a forum. This is the real trick. You really need to either offer a service or a product that gives them a reason to return.. over to you for that one! | ||||

![]() | Doing both On-Page and Off-Page Optimization helps promote your site. On-Page Optimization - it deals with the proper use of meta tags, title tags, alt tags, heading tags, description and keywords. Off-Page Optimization - deals with building links. Blog commenting, forum posting, article and directory submissions, social bookmarking are just some of the techniques that falls under Off-Page Optimization. |
