· #1 | | NamePros Member | Marketing a Free Script I own a free, open-source script and I am trying to get more users. So what is the best way I can improve people finding my script? Obviously, since it is free, I don't have money to spend on ads all over the place. |

| I can't think of a better way of promoting an open sources script than by providing installation at the host level
1. Offer it to Netenberg to get included in their fantastico installer http://www.netenberg.com/fantastico.php
2. Offer it to large hosting companies that offer their own installers such as dreamhost

| There are lots of scripts repositories to which you can submit your work. If you're too lazy to search and submit yourself why not use PAD? PAD allows you to describe your software and upload that description to a repository. Thousands of webmasters are (automatically) subscribed to the PAD repository and will be offered the info on your script. Most webmasters have automated the process and will add a link to your script immediately. Site: http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/authors.php |

| Hotscripts and similar sites
if not that, then you can contact forum owners and ask them if they can help you distribute the script. |
