| How would you get people to join a networking site?
I've found something that would appeal to small number of people and there isn't anything dedicated to it, how would you go about getting people to sign up?

| that is very dependent on what the niche is. If there are magazines on the subject you could try writing into them. Also try offering incentives for referring people to the site, people word of mouth and testimonials are the best thing. In most subjects if you can find 1 person who is into that subject they will know x amount of people also into it, and again thos people will also know x amount of people. | |

| I'd say the best way you could possibly get people would be just to tell as many people as possible. Get the word out.
Another thing would be to get your site on some of the social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, digg, etc. Make the page you submit appealing and grab the readers attention and they may just sign up.

They key is reaching your target market. Here are some ways you could do your marketing.
Free methods:
Submission to SE's and directories
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings to targetted audience
Social Bookmarking
Etc. etc.
Premium ways: (Should require a budget)
Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Targetted Link backs
Professional SEO services
Ad spaces
Offline campaigns
Etc. etc.
Just always keep in mind that patience is a virtue in our industry. Hope my suggestions help out.

| Thanks guys, what I think I might do for now is have this networking site attached to mine as one of the sites is the same niche as the networking one and then go from there.
