I just came across this tip elsewhere and wondered what you all thought of it.. supposedly adding this code to your site will result in a high MSN rank. Some say it's Black Hat and may result in you getting banned.. some say not.
HTML Code:
<a href="http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=www.yoursite.com&FORM=QBRE" alt="keyword or keyword phrase"> <b>Your Keyword</b></a>
I read this in DP and some guys over there said this is not a black hat..
Just a link to MSN.. nothing wrong with it..
But I'm not sure about this and I never use it as I'm not going to put my first and only site on danger
I don't see any "Black hat SEO" with that and there's NO harm having a link to msn search with your site's URL query in it. No way there's a reason for SE's to ban because it doesn't makes sense and there's no ranking effect.
Well, thanks for the opinions.. I'm also inclined to see any "trick" such as this one as "Black Hat".. whether it will result in a ban or penalty, I dunno.
Here is a blog entry by David Naylor explaining a thing or two on this matter.
What it comes down to is that you don't make your own page rank but that particular search result page which will drive traffic to your site.
As you can exploit sites with massive authority & trust you can rank for certain phrases in no time.
I wouldn't advise to do this with long term sites though...
