Question Is there a proper list of MUST DOs when launching a new site?

I just have no clue how to announce a new site that I am developing. I'm dropping the most I've ever spent on a site and want to take the extra step to launch it proper.

Can a TRUE PRO lend a brother a hand and put down a nice list for me? Also, if it is your primary business, shoot me over a PM with your CV and portfolio. Maybe I'll contract out some work.

Thanks for looking. Rep++ for your good advice.

Of course another important step in the process of launching a new blog or website is to check if EVERYTHING works as it should be working such as newsletter, signups and RSS and your overall link structure, if there are no broken links that can cause visitors to end up on error pages and of course search engines don't like this either.

I am spending $XXXX on development. I didn't mess around with ad hoc bits and pieces. I am putting all the development and testing parts under one roof. I am nervous as hell. I am considering spending $XXXX on a professional marketing campaign too. It's like why do one w/o the other?

That's true but be careful with these marketing campaigns and whom you hire for this job.

Perhaps if you could send me a PM describing what your website is going to be about and what your expectations are i could ad something else that could help you out in regards to marketing.

If your site offers something newsworthy then a press release will definately help to kick start things of.

Other than that, I would suggest getting good quality links pointing to your site and doing seo.

Don't know if this is helpful.

More pointed to a web 2.0 app, but could still prove useful in helping you decide what marketing strategy to use and when.

On the original list, but not fully expounded upon, is creating an affiliate program. This is a great way to pass on marketing costs to others, and you only pay when your affiliates drive traffic that converts for you in calculated ways. I have no idea what you're looking to do, but this could be anything from paying a percentage of sales, to paying per lead generated, to paying for each person who signs up for your newsletter.

I'm a member of a great forum that is targeted towards the Affiliate marketing channel (that's actually how I found out about Namepros). I'd highly recommend you check them out: ABestWeb.com. If you decide to go that route, you can even hire a person to run your affiliate program for you, so you can concentrate on what you do best.

HI i am an SEO and pretty good at it, this isnt for announcing a site as such,
but free advice for free organic traffic. and i cant think of a better way to announce than being no1,

Use your domain name in your title,
as an example i just googled "directory"http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...e+Search&meta=
notice 8-10 sites use there domain name again in title either as whatever.com or what ever... im in Australia so my results will be a little different. but it works for anything you choose to search, it only started a few weeks ago, so shhhh

What it seems to do is magnify your domain name, your most powerful SE tool, and it doubles search engine points, the other "phrase or word" you choose are just taken up, but of course, if your target phrase/word is in your domain as well, even better,

one really easy way to get the Search Bots crawling your site like mad, that no-one ever seems to mention ...put in a robots.txt,

it works better than anything else to getting your site noticed fast. better than site maps, better than anything, if you go over your webaliser and last 300 visits, without it you get a 404 and the bot will leave,, with it and you will get bots you never heard of crawling your site,

make your site interactive, add an rss feed and a favicon is a nice touch and also seems to help a little in the rankings. as well as making you look like a proper site,
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=302626

put in a bookmark button, with an all in one like addme.com or single entry with keyword tags even better. target the big 5-6 sites. digg tecnorati etc,

those few things can be done on any site in under ten min, and will get you up in the rankings, and past your competition.

every month change your title a little, keeping the domain name of course, you will get an extra listing out of it, and push another competitor clean off the top page,

Hope that helps,,
Phillip

I have to agree that the post is a very good one. Study that list and act on it immediately.

PRWeb is an online company that you should consider for the press release. Overall I think you have some great starting points here and I sure have a few more things to do thanks alot.

Rep to add for that contribution. Thanks.
