Simply put, HOW do you do this? There must be a simple, step by step resource on the Internet somewhere to show you how to do this. I know, there are about a million people out there that will charge you out the arse for their "secrets" but secrets aside, there has to be a basic process to do this.

Every site is diiferent and there are too many varaibles to have a step by step guide for everyone in myu opinion.

Many of us that do charge to perform seo do eaqrn every penny by working very hard.

You can just follow the basics and do fine as well...

Here are some basics...

First

Go and submit your sites to these 2 directories and this topsite list.

www.afreeurl.com www.talkandmore.net/links/ www.talkandmore.net/top/

#2 - Make sure your title is descriptive and keyword rich

#3 - Pick your keywords carefully and use proper meta tags.

#4 - Use a robots.txt file and block the pages that do not need to be crawled

#5 - Have tons of keyword rich content through out your site

#6 - Obey all the rules and do not cheat by using hidden keywords etc.

#7 - Make sure your site is accessible to everyone by using alt text etc... a great tool that will evaluate etc is here www.cast.org/bobby I use this all the time. Take advantage of it..

#8 - Get as many decent linkbacks as you can

#9 - Stay away from auto link swap sites and things of that nature..

Question though... I've been doing some reading since my post and I've come across a couple of phrases that I don't follow. Maybe you can help?

"keyword rich" - I see this in the Title area as well as the body. What is "keyword rich"? I hear that 3 words is about all, I also hear that 30 words is good. What's the deal here?

What is a "backlink"? Is that a link to me from another site?

What is "Alt Text"... is that where you add the ALT="????" to an image?

Finally, you use Robots.txt to HIDE directories from the Crawlers? Why? Just curious.

Keywords are basically words that describe your site. Descriptive words.

Yes, A backlink is a link to your site on another site. That is why I gave you the directory links. Those are easy back links any site can get for starters.

Alt text... If you look at your images in your code you will see alt="".. Basically you want a word that describes the image between those quotes. Some third world browsers or handicap browsers use these alt words instead of the images...

I think it is good practice to use robots.txt to block certain files from being scanned because it keeps things from being listed that you don't need listed and it keeps the focus on your content.

Another good tip is to make sure you do not have duplicate content getting crawled. You can use your robots.txt file to keep this to a minimum.

Glad to help... This is just basic stuff too but just the same it is important.
