hidden part of webpage - Search Engine Optimization

I read the article about Search Engine Optimization Strategies from http://www.searchenginestrategies.biz/. It mentioned that you should create some hidden text or graphics links on the page. I was think put the invisible layer on my page which fulfilled with the keywords and links but not sure if the search engine spider will gather those information inside the

<DIV id=Layer style="Z-INDEX: 1; LEFT: 0px; TOP: -400px; VISIBILITY: hidden; WIDTH: 188px; POSITION: absolute">

Is might be an outdate way to make the page SEO'ed, but as a newbie, I don't know if there is any other effective way to do this. And my site is really lack of text, I heard people saying if your site don't have enough content, that will a big problem for your ranking on search engines.

Please take a look at my site here. Any suggestion for search engine optimization are highly appreciated.

you dont want to do that you'll only get penalized - dont underestimate google he can be very smart sometimes.

Here is what you need to do -
First you need a lot more text on your homepage and all your pages.
Focus on a couple keywords and stick with it per page.
Everypage should have different keywords and different text.
On your home page now - your title tags seem very very competitive perhaps try something a less competitive your first try. Use this to do research on keywords:
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/s...?keywords=yahoo
On your pages make one h tag(add number to it) <h>keyword wanted<h> somewhere
and as stated above - write about it in the content text. dont overdue it you can be penalized.
Change your description on everypage to talk about that specific page.

Trade links with other similiar sites - when creating links with other people make sure your ancor text says your keyword wanted like: "Gucci Bags" - Youll have to narrow your keywords
down. Way to competitive unless you have a team working with you. Link to different pages with different ancor link that matches the keyword/s for that specific page.. make sense?
Links, links, links, and when your done get more links - that is the ticket to success. Oh .. dont link to penalized sites or link farm type sites.. youll get penalized.

If you dont want to have other peoples links on your site, youll have to find a creative way for people to link to you One-Way.
One-Way links are always the best links and you dont need so may to see results. BUT their obviously harder to get.
use forums, newsletters, pay for them, create other sites and built them up seperatly and add your link.

That should be good enough for you. Good luck and create some good content (text) with lots of links and more links.

Thank you very much for your great help. Actually after read many other posts here I reliazed if I do this I will get the trouble like you wrote get penalized. I will do modify job to my site as you taught. However, just want to know if I create other sites/pages, even host them in different companies, and then I made these new sites/pages full with those very competitive but very very important keywords and link everything to the site which I original want to pormoted. By this way, do you think the search engines will not only penalty the new site/pages I create but also penalty my original site?

I think the best way to do it is with appropriate META tags, relevant site text, and links from other high ranking sites.

You could do that - just try to keep the content orginal with some variety. Dont just copy and paste. Probably dont want to exchange links between the sites. Just One way links.
This not recommended by google, bite my tonge, its a good idea and a lot of people do it. What people do is called a hosting exchange. You host someones website on your server and they will host yours. Then create tons of sites and create One way links.
