Jamie_net is an unknown quantity at this point

There are a few key things that you need:

1. Interest (duhh):If there is no interest in the subject then of course no one will want to go there.

2. A community: I always found that forums on game fansites do good because they usually have a big Official site to make plugs on.

It's going to take a while to actually get discussion going, and you will probably have a lot of threads that aren’t replied to, but you have to spark an interest in passer by's.

Remember that theres a fine line between 'acceptable plugs' and 'shamelessly annoying plugs' on Official Community boards

Best of luck!

I find that offering incentives for participation and posts helps.

Cindy is on a distinguished road

A successful forum needs a good members base. You need to advertise and perhaps start a referals contest or some sort of promotion to attract visitors. Improve your forums with hacks and features, provide themes & support & contests, and make sure to let your visitors know why your forum is better than the 42343243 other ones out there.
