I have a web-directory that I started from scratch that I am trying to market. Right now I have approx 2000 uniques a month, and I would like to double that in the next couple of months.

My issue at the moment is time, I do not have a lot of time to work on link exchanges and such. What are some good ways to increase traffic that don't require too much time?

Yes, and less than $100 per month

but that has only been for the last 3 months

You should setup some kind of banner advertising that lets you sell banner impressions/text ads. I know you can find some good ones on www.hotscripts.com

linkmarket.net is no longer free you need to upgrade and pay monthly U.S.$24+

it only cost if you want to ask others for link exchnage, you don't have to pay to let them ask you. It takes longer, but it's free.

I have one set up, but it is not automatic at the moment. I advertise on numerous webmaster sites but it seems that I still don't get enough traffic for such a program.

I am also going to set up a sponsored link section on the side for each category at a cost per month, and maybe in the future a featured section for a significant one time cost.

These things will boost my revenue, but not my traffic which is what I am focusing on for the time being.

i found linkmarket to be spammy (getting requests from casinos etc for a kids site)

I have tried the three of those and the only one I liked was link Vault. However since they don't accept directories it doesn't help me out with marketing my DIRECTORY
