Site promotion help

Ive got a file hosting site http://www.myfileminder.com but I have no idea how to promote it, i submitted it to google and yahoo but they havent spidered it yet. Im looking to do a banner or link exchange with someone, anyone interested?

Join lots of forums, and make some quality posts, and have the link to your site in your sig (if the sites allow this). Grapic design forums are ideal for something like this , since lots of people on them are always looking for places to host their images. As well this method will help build up links, and get the Search engines to your site.

Try writing a few articles and submitting them to article distribution sites like goarticles.com (can't remember the other good ones right now). Put a link to your site in the author bio area and you'll get backlinks from every site that reprints your article. This is a good way to get many one-way links at once.

Go around a bunch of forums, join in the discussions, add your site to your sig and then advertise your site in the appropriate advertisement sections and you should go well

u can offer your site to be included in the code at some forums. for example if someone is posting at any forums and want to upload a picture there should be a option to store images and it should go to your forum. hard to php code though and many forum admin may not allow this.

Heh, kills me to see sites like this that dont know how to use the site itself to get traffic.

This type of site is easy to promote. Just upload a few good quality files (celeb pics/vids) and post them on some high traffic picture forums. I get 200 uniques a day from postings on boards from months ago.

Your site has the advantage of using that to draw more people from that community to use your service. This way after a a few dosen posts you will have a user base that does this for you.

Simple, join graphic forums, and tell them that there's a new file uploader out there, and advertise your site =D
