| Domain Promotion I was just curious. Obviously the value of a domain goes up if it gets a lot of unique hits (as compared to a domain on its own without any visitors). Is it a good idea to put up just a 1-2 page website and optimize it for search engines without having a whole lot of content there? Has anyone does this?
Lets say you found a decent domain name and have a good idea for a site that could be built there, but you don't have the time to get the site up just yet. Would it be a good idea to do initial SEO and see if you get good hits first and then build the site? or if you do get good hits to just sell the domain if you still don't have time to build the rest of the site?
I'm not talking about a doorway page that's just wall to wall keywords which can get you banned from search engines. |

| You can't do the very prime of SEO without having time IMHO. That prime being good content.
Your idea would not be any recommendable approach to search engines by me, even though it wouldn't do you nothing bad.
It might be a good idea if the name accquired already has a Pagerank or a good link popularity. |

| Yes you can't get very good results without having lots of good content on the site, but if the keyword is not very competitive, it might still be possible to get a few hits without too much content. Put up a couple of keyword rich pages and submit to the search engines and directories and so on, and if the response is good, you could continue and build a better site or sell the domain and show that it has already been listed in search engines and is receiving some traffic. |

| Wouldn't it be relevancy? That's one of the most important things in my opinion. There is a bit of subjectivity in this.
I guess the way I define good content is: if my site is about pet products. Editorial reviews on pet products, visitor review on pet products, nutrition info about pet products, etc. Things like that; things that make people think that your site is a good resource for pet product related things would be considered good content. If I had a pet products site with banner ads everywhere promoting a web hosting business, that would not be good content. |
