I was worried when reading the title of your post, too. I just picked up hotel casino (dot) me, my first (and only) casino-related name. Interesting article, though. I was just in Kentucky last week.

I was talking to a developer from England last week and it seems that some are making thousands of $$$$ every moth from their gambling related sites...from just link sales and banner ads. Paypal imposes no restriction whatsoever for UK account holders...
A couple years ago I know for fact that Paypal closed accounts of some US-based directory owners that accepted gambling link submissions(...)

I think the whole thing is ridiculous and is geared to ensure a more "successful" business for offline casino owners!

++ I own LeadCasino.com and at some point thought of developing it myself.

Quote:
Kentucky racetracks have been experiencing tough economic times in the past several years and Beshear saw the domain seizures as a way to restrict Kentucky residents from accessing the sites. The idea was that the residents would then start spending their gambling money at the tracks. The plan backfired, however, when a Circuit Court ruled that the seizures were not legal.
So how much is he getting to push it through the courts from the racetrack?

The Governor of Kentucky started this to get more citizens betting through official state endorsed betting channels. The payback is more dollars taxed.

\/ These websites might not be taxable. We dont know where there from or any details. Racetracks on the otherhand are much easyer to oversee their accounting.

I wouldn't believe that for a second personally as it is the typical politicians answer...why not simply tax the websites instead of seizing them and putting them out of business for the benefit of a larger fish?

Would it be right to bulldoze 50 vibrant restaurants to the ground in order to save a McDonalds?

(I don't really want to discuss politics here but it has always struck me as a little strange how someone would spend so much time and effort to get a governors seat at their own expense...will a political price be paid later?)

Interesting they expect the domain owners to show up. Seems that counsel should be more than enough to satisfy the court. I wouldn't show up in Kentucky for the lynch mob either.

Thousands? Some people are making millions. Though the money is in being an affiliate, not selling banner advertising. Most of the easy money is gone though, crowded market now.
