30% is a good deal, it does take 30-45 days to receive your check unfortunately. Ive sold 2 domains with them. long wait for checks, also you can add your paypal for receiving payments, i did not add it, i dont want to pay more fees.

I've been thinking of putting a couple names to sell on godaddy but can't quite work it out. Is the 7 day public auction the best way to go? When you specify the selling price what happens if the bids don't reach it? Is it better to specify a low selling price and hope this attracts bids? Also what's the situation if the bids go over or is the name sold when the bid hits your selling price?

At what point is the name transferred over to the buyer as i presume some names could be almost due to expire?

Can't you list a dot in on gd auctions?

Here's GoDaddy's commission fees and payment schedule:

The 30% commissions apply to Premium Listings sold through GoDaddy.com. When customers search for domain names to register they see the Premium Listings.

You can only can add .com, .net, and .org domain names to Premium Listings.

For premium listings payment is made within 45 days after the last day of the month in which the sale occurred.

If a Premium Listing is sold at GoDaddy's Auctions the fees are 5% commission for sales under $1,000 (minimum of $5) and 7% if the sale is over $1,000. Includes escrow fees.

If sold at GoDaddy auctions funds are held for 20 days and paid on the 2st day.

Premium Listings is different then public auctions.

Premium Listings ads your domain to the public auction on tdnam and registrar search database.... meaning of I search for a domain name in the search field on the registration page of godaddy, I will find my domain as PREMIUM LISTING with a premium price VS Reg Fee.

Yes it's frustrating that the Buyer gets the domain immediately but the Seller has to wait for payment.

This is only for sales under $500.

GoDaddy is not a licensed escrow company.

If GD gave you the sales proceeds once the Buyer received the domain then they'd be operating as an escrow company.

This is why they impose a wait period on the Seller.

For sales over $500 , GD uses Escrow.com which is a licensed escrow company so you get the money quicker.

Hope,

Feel free to add PayPal for receiving payments as it will speed things up.

Godaddy uses PayPal Mass Pay so you will not incur any fees and will receive the entire amount due.

Thanks for your replies. This is not a premium listing as far as i am aware, i have about 6 or those but this is not one of them, so I'm hoping i don't have to pay 30%. My paypal info is hooked up for paying for registrations etc, so i assume that is also good for payments for sales.

I just had a look and although my paypal info is hooked up to Godaddy i usually pay by credit card, so i wouldn't have any idea how to get paypal payments from them.

lets face it, everything is designed to give Godaddy money not the other way round.

maxeaus,

You have to tell GoDaddy that you want to use PayPal to receive your
sales proceeds.

I'm still not sure what the actual fees are, so i sent an email to support.

My listing is NOT a premium listing, it is on the auction platform with a minimum offer price added, and the sale price was $663 (god knows why i got that price!) and the email from godaddy says $600, hence i don't even know what is going on with the actual price!

Seeing that I'm Australian i see little point in getting a US dollar check and paying extra bank and exchange fees, i am better off receiving it with paypal.

---------- Post added at 08:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 AM ----------

So i ask godady what is the net proceeds of the sale and can i get paid by paypal please.

This is their response!

"Due to its complex nature, your issue has been relayed to our Advanced Technical Support Team. Our most skilled technicians will be working to resolve your issue quickly and completely. You will be notified promptly upon resolution."

---------- Post added at 09:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 AM ----------

Well to Godaddy's credit they (ATST, Advanced Technical Support Team) LOL, replied very fast and this is the reply, so thumbs up for the ATST!

It was 5% and my sale price of $663 was the Australian dollar price, and they claim a two week payment time.

The reply from the "most skilled technician"

"I show that your funds are scheduled to be released on 9/16/10 to the PayPal email address maxeaus@XXXXXXXXX.com.au in the amount of $570.00. If this PayPal email address needs to be updated please reply with the corrected email."

Its never dull at Godaddy!
