Mocus.com will rebrand to Catchy.com

We are happy to announce we acquired the domain Catchy.com for an undisclosed amount and we will rename our vertical marketplace of short brandable names Mocus.com to Catchy.com

Currently a logo design contest is running at 99Designs.com

The site will be redesigned and we will start soon accepting catchy 5 letters dot com (until now only 3 and 4 letters catchy dot coms were accepted).

We are also considering a tagline/slogan contest on Twitter with a $1,000 prize like we did with PremiumDomains.com last year.

The redesign, development and marketing of Catchy.com should be our priority within the next weeks.

Any question you may have is welcome.

Looks very nice. But can't seem to get the idea behind it. Are you a portfolio holder? aftermarket of some kind or an investment group?

Name mocus is funny and gets me thinking (what does that mean? Mocus)

congrats on your acquisition! Catchy.com is really a catchy name
And yes, you really need to redesign the site
P.S. also bezi.com which you give as an example of a sale isn't currently resolving, maybe you've got another example...

Good luck with the project!

@tech4

Catchy.com is a marketplace of catchy domains for sale:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/industry-news/645692-mocus-com-will-rebrand-catchy-com.html
2, 3, or 4 characters dot com that are readable and have some appeal (soon 5 characters accepted).
The names listed are owned by many domain owners that list them here to maximize sale price and shrink sale delay (25 years is the average time to sella CVCV.com around $30K without promo).
You can list your catchy names for sale here (we only charge a 15% sales commission):
Submit your domains at Catchy.com
It's clear now?

Mocus does not have any meaning I think, it was simply a 5 letters catchy name we had and for which we already have a logo (shame to me for be lazy), and this was the main reason we use it.
Just for info the site was called ClassyDomains.com before Catchy.com and Mocus.com
The change from ClassyDomains.com to Mocus.com was didacted by the need to have a short orgininal name and because nobody called catchy domains classy domains so the generic had low interest.
I personally think that if you are not able to own the best domain in your niche it's better to get catchy brandable name and create your own identity as you will not benefit of the generic, just to create confusion.

@ssamriga
The bezi.com sale we comment in the affiliate program page is a true sale.
The domain was purchased $27K by a chinese investor who launched an online store of sport shoes, you can still see the page in the Google cache.
Now it's true the site is unreachable but I don't know the reason, maybe the site is down, maybe they are filtering traffic outside China, ... no idea. And just between you and me, I don't care ... LOL.

Few weeks ago we sold pepe.com at Catchy.com for $61K.
Maybe you read in domaining.com the nice flip we made within only 2 months...

After the redesign we will really focus on list as much inventory is possible of catchy domains.
It's the requirement to attack the second phase where we will hardly promote the site.

@SlimPickins only on Twitter as it will be fully automatized.

We have decided to only start the slogan contest after the site redesign and having enlarged the type of domains we accept to list.

We are still unsure if we should:

a) Accept ccTLDs like: Loli.fr, Pepe.it, ....

b) Accept catchy combinations of 5 characters like: Calin.com, Molan.com, ...

c) Or both.

I still have a few LLLLL.com. I might list one or so there, to test the waters. And I might enter the logo contest once launched. Good luck with everything!

I noticed that there are no domains in the site under $2,000 except 1 I submitted, at a reasonable price.

I listed one for $295 (the only one under $1,000 lol) although after 2 reports that I completed the forwarding thing, nothing's happened.

So far, I'm a little wary of the site since EVERY SINGLE DOMAIN except mine is unrealistically priced. Nub is a dictionary word but not a common one. Who'd seriously pay $100,000 for it?

It's difficult to reach out and sell these kind of names since there are no clear end users for them. Buyers come up with the name themselves, see that it is taken and then possibly come to you - if they can figure out how.

So essentially all you really need is contact info on the domain since they are going to be checking to see if anything is there. No sense in pointing the domain to a marketplace and thus being railroaded into paying commission on a sale that the marketplace didn't even initiate.

In this case, I agree with DubDubDubDot.

These would be domainer to domainer sales, and some of those prices are too high for resellers and domainers.

Most end users will find you through Whois.

IMO
