Isn't that cheap-ish for a major Country .com domain?

The Brazilian Governement themselves would surely pay LOADS more for this...

Yeah, I think its 1/3rd the price it should have sold for. The buyer got a good deal.

That is a steal for a targeted domain of the the 5th largest country in the world, and a top travel destination. I heard rumors this was up for sale several months ago and am shocked the owner let it go for this price. This deal is just phenomenal for the buyer.

I would say even in this market this is at least a $2-$3M domain.

Wow..so cheap!

but I think the reason it went for so cheap, is because the proper spelling is actually "BRASIL" with an S. Most Brasilano's and Brasilana's (I don't think saying Brasilians is correct within the language) spell it with an S due to their native language which is Portuguese. So that's most likely why it sold for so cheap. Brasil is beautiful.

According to Compete, it only gets 2084 hits/month which is extremely low for a country .COM of this caliber as well.

It is hard to gauge the value of a domain name on the high or low end with a direct sale and only 1 party being involved.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/industry-news/601689-brazil-com-sells-for-500k.html

I would be shocked though if a public auction would not have yielded a much higher result.

Actually, Overture in 2008 would predict about 2000-2500 visitors per day.

My research predicts about 1000 visitors a day.

Definitely not per month.

Compete isn't accurate for every domain.
One of my site gets about 10,000 uniques/mth at peak month, compete show 2,941 for same period.
My other site gets about 15,000 uniques/mth and peak 21,000/mth, compete show only 1,068.

The domain only sold for $500K? That's just way too cheap as it is a country domain.
