An OK deal if one is truly in the market for a .asia name and that registrar has decent pricing.

As a point of reference, we purchased a few 2GB USB keys (Kingston) for CAD $2.99 ... (the smaller 2GB sticks are pretty much being liquidated everywhere...)

Wow.. haven't seen as many bots on this forum as much as there is in here! lol.. check out the random "thanks for the information" posts.

Anyway, as for the deal... I would've thought the .asia crew could come out with a more useful/purposeful promotion. If you're going to do some kind of give-away, at least think it through... how many people will register a .asia JUST for the memory stick?? they'd have to be a bit dense to do so purely for that.

The ones who register or were going to register .asia - would do it with or without the offer of a memory stick. I guess its just me, but I don't see the point of this - waste of promo money/effort imo - would've been better spent showing the use of the extension rather trying to lure more people into randomly registering what a lot would regard as a failing tld.

Use the money/effort to promote the use - encourage development etc.

Just my 2cents

I suppose if your buying a .asia anyway then its a good little free gift, however like others have said they don't cost that much to buy bulk from china and I should imagine they bought a BIG lot.

Free gifts whilst buying something is always welcome, but having to try and bribe people to invest in the product shows how strained the .asia market must be.Perhaps if they simply ""lowered the price"" they may get a better outcome.Freebie giveaways smacks of desperation.

I don't agree, you see many companies offering free gifts with there products, its a promotion, I wouldn't say its being desperate.

I don't think its a sign of desperation, just feel they could've used a better promo route. Perhaps offer 50MB web hosting package to encourage people to get started - offer online site builder etc.
