"go carts" has a very similar wordtracker to "go karts". I think both are correct ways of spelling it.

I don't know if that even qualifies as a misspell.
It's one of those weird cases where the technically 'correct' spelling is actually a misspelling in itself, causing vast numbers of people to intuitively look up the 'correct' spelling.

Reminds me of a case here in Chicago...
Kars4kids.com

They do a ton of radio ads, which is pointless with a name like that, since maybe 1/10 listeners will actually land on your stupid misspelled/numerical homonym "creative" name.

Wouldn't exactly call it a misspell, however the spelling is tricky because of the two variants with gokarts being more popular.

I would guess the name sold on about 20 years revenue which is in the right range for such a commercial term though the spelling issue is a real "dominant negative" with this domain. Overall the price sounds at the higher end of the scale given the potential issues with developing it/enduser interest.

Even if "go carts" is searched for as much as "go karts", you still suffer from the fact that Google suggests you misspelled it. I don't know to what extent this would harm your search engine traffic, but I know that I instinctively ignore the results and just click on the suggested spelling instead.

Yeah definately an issue, I think "go karts" is the more popular term though.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/industry-news/594794-us-91-600-for-mi-spell.html

Here is some stats from adwords, (paid clicks)

go carts 211 - 264 clicks per day
go karts 398 - 498 clicks per day

Note those figures are after any issues with people clicking the more popular suggested spelling. (ie the figures are clicks not searches)

sure it makes domainers "feel good"... but when i hear other domainers say things like "worth the money" for high dollar sales like this i have a feeling its nothing other than a "feel good" or validation type of statement.

The guy was simply filling out his name/brand that had an alternate spelling. Apparently, he was doing good enough with GoKarts.com to justify the purchase of GoCarts.com to prevent traffic bleed.

One of my favorite places in the world is Bay Saint Louis, MS
(well, maybe I should say "was one of my favorite places" since Hurricane Katrina pretty much wiped it off the map )

I own BaySaintLouis dt org, but obviously, a lot of people would spell it BayStLouis dt org with "Saint" abbreviated. In order for the name to be complete and viable for dev (where word of mouth might be a factor, since it's a pure geo name), I had to get both. Pretty much, the same situation here with GoKarts/GoCarts. If there's an alternate spelling, get both.

Not sure what you are talking about, gokarts.com is a park page and the owner of it didn't win the auction.

"Go Karts" might be the preferred spelling, but "Go Carts" is an extremely popular alternative spelling. With that being said, $90K+ is still pretty pricey for that domain in this market.

I agree, a couple of years ago I would not have even blinked at the sale price, but in this market that is a lot of money for this domain name.

Let's see if this one goes through and I don't think it will with NJ's previous record. Toxic.com is going for its third auction due to non paying bidders.
