![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Was desperately trying to find information on some things today for a paper... and couldn't take Google anymore. I decided to check out Yahoo and for some reason I found more information way quicker with the same search queries. Maybe they're onto something? Eh... Found this a bit hilarious though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That's quite funny. Let's hope it works - it's in all our interests that Google loses market share. Current Google consipracies/predictions 1) Your site will rank better organically if you use adwords to promote it 2) Your site will rank better if you have Adsense on it 3) Google will start to charge for video (via youtube) next year 4) Google will at some point deliberately make search results less relevant to encourage cllicking on paid adwords 5) Google use Quality Score arbitrarily to drive up CPC bids 6) Google expanded broad matching which supposedly aimed to increase advertiser reach actually results in irrelevant ads showing which both increases the competition (and therefore the revenue) for that particular search and damages the QS of the advertiser forcing him/her to bid more in future ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=539582 Anyway... most of that is probably crap but if they wanted to they clearly could!

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=539582 there's nothing like that, seems they're only marketing to yahoo U.S. searches but on both ph.yahoo.com and yahoo.com i can see this ad

It just seems that Google has great ability with self-promotion and Yahoo is a stick in the mud. Yahoo literally does no promotion that I am aware of. If they would just stand up and compete for surfers they would do better. Surfers have literally forgotten Yahoo exists for searches....except for Yahoo News and some things like that.

Most computers now-a-days come with pre-set homepages with "search engine" type pages (Google partner pages, mostly). Anyone unfamiliar with computers/the internet loads up Internet Explorer and gets to these pre-set homepages... and since it doesn't look like the familiar "Google.com", they search it to get to it. I've seen it done plenty of times. Not exactly sure why some people can't see the darned address bar with the URL in it, but I've learned to not care as much. Took me a while to get my dad to work his way around the net "properly".

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | more likely yahoo is confident enough about their search services to refer competition. I too refer to competition, but i only refer if like for example i know my competition well, and i know it sucks on this specific area then if the client wants that i refer it to the client, pointing out that area. yeah a healthy relationship between competition. yeah some to avoid hitting below the belt as they say just do what Chef Patrick does confine the customers within the limits of your services, if you don't want to lose them. it's a matter of knowing your customer base and your competition on the part of yahoo, for example, most people here still use yahoo.com as their web-based email and telling them about google makes their faces sad and they don't know it, though if you're an online business owner, you need both search engines.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Seeing such a message makes me further skeptical of Yahoo search results. Whereas, on Google, when one searches for Yahoo, they get results as usual without extra messages, links, etc begging not to leave. Bottom line is Yahoo's message to stay, while cute, makes me more likely to use Google. Perhaps it's just me... Ron

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This reminded me of the top result in google for "failure" that was up for 2+ years http://searchengineland.com/google-k...ombs-10363.php But it has since changed ![]() I'm sure if Google could just buy out Yahoo right now without the monopoly bells going off they would do it --- |
