Cj settlement may owe you $

For way to damn long, domainers have had no transparency when it comes to getting paid for the inherit traffic from the names we own. How many of us felt we were not getting our fair share for names we parked or placed with certain affliate publishers?

A class action suit against Cj and value click has started and between 2003 and the present, private parties will be making a in depth study of all payouts. You are automatically placed as a recipent for monies awarded if you were a member during this time.

I wonder if across the board a private audit for all major parking was done right now, how our "partners" would fare. Food for thought.

Transparency is needed now more than ever.

I dont know... they are their own company, I think they have the right to pay out however much they want, whether its 50% or 2% of what they make. They are contacting advertisers for you and can take whatever they want from the proffits. The alternative is to develop the domain and get your own advertisers.

I completely support CJ and hope they win.

WTH if this continues then how will adsense go on?

Will people not start doing the same things with adsense?

If an advertising company is running their business and if a publisher wants to earn a dime he or she is getting an opportunity to earn some dimes.

As far as transparency is concerned if and only if CJ said they take so and so percentage and give out the rest to publishers and they didn't followed it and took more percentages from it. Then there is an issue. But I doubt CJ would be doing that.

Publishers will get a cut according to a percentage of their revenue against what is left of a measly 1 million after lawyer fees etc. Most publishers will get the minimum $1 dollar.

Pretty sure this would not be happening if they did not have some proof that monies were withheld that should have been paid out.

I don't think much money for individuals will come about thru this either. I got a email from Cj about it and looked into it and thought I would "pass it along" to fellow domainers.

Well, its a tough spot for us. I mean, honestly, I don't trust CJ. But guess what? I still do the majority of my affiliate sales through them. My CJ payment last month was over 3k. So, even if I am being cheated, what else is there to do other than just suck it up and live with it? Without these affiliate programs, we would have a huge chunk of our revenues out of the picture. It's basically a love hate relationship.

Fragger,

that is awesome, you are doing good.

One thing about this.. now you may start making even more money since their books will be open now. In the future more accurate payouts should come from them.

People should read a bit more carefully. The entire purpose of the lawsuit is based on the fact that CJ was allowing affiliates to use software programs (adware, malware, whatever) that would effectively install itself on a users computer and whenever that user clicked on an affiliate link, the software would replace the affiliate id in that link with their own, thus stealing the commissions from the actual affiliate who should have go credit for it. It probably also likely that if there was no affiliate id in a link, it would add their id to the link. Thus stealing from both publishers and advertisers. Publishers weren't getting credit for sales they brought, and advertisers were paying for sales that would have been free through natural search engine traffic or other non-affiliate links.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=507026

CJ is being blamed for turning a blind eye to this type of activity even though it was explicitly against their ToS. They were getting paid so they weren't in any hurry to crack down on it, even though they were essentially aiding in ripping off both their publishers and advertisers.

It doesn't really have anything to do with transparency of payouts, percentages taken, or anything to that effect.

And no, I can't say I would stand behind an affiliate company that screws everyone involved to fatten their own wallets and a select few individuals who were cheating the system.
