A Change to .ME at GoDaddy

When searching for a very unavailable name today I went looking for the .ME checkbox, only to find that it has MOVED. The current GoDaddy layout for all domain search results is now:

__ .Com __ .ME __ .Info __ .Mobi __ .Org. __ .Net __ .TV

So ME has moved from the end of the list to the one next to .com (at GoDaddy only of course). Most of the other big registrars still do not show .ME in the results at all.

Isn't .ME's registry managed by Godaddy?

usually the newest one is put on top to put attention to it, that's more likely for me.

It is, in partnership with Afilias and Me-Net (A Montenegrin company)

When you get part of the dough/$ from the sell of the cake, like a grocery store that sells desert cakes, you make sure its on some aisle where customers can find it. However, when you are the bakery itself, you put it out front. Its all in where you're bigger money is coming from

Goddady moved it up to 2 spot because they had world RECORD sales on the .me domain and selling allot of .me names now.

currently more than 100 accredited registrars from 24 different countries offering .ME domains and list is growing nearly daily!

I like the bakery analogy

I thought it was interesting that they gave .me front and center. I have a feeling that with this cash infusion and the upcoming Sept auction they will probably start doing more advertising. Putting the domain at the front is one way to do that.

Everything is still years away but either a hit or a flop I don't know. Already received an inquiry for one of my prime me's but haven't agreed on a price yet. Whatever I get for it I will put half back into some more .me's

Godaddy are haveing record sales!! on dot ME domains thats why they moved it up.

If you read news about the .me domains- godaddy sold over 20000 just the fist day and this was a world record amount domains in one day.
Also the current .me auction running are going very good even few are able to bid.

not sure when this change happened, but .me is now the 5th search result at dotser.com, so the order is:
com - net - org - info - me ....

at dynadot it is still at the bottom of results.

.Me Is a good domain name, but the domain name, not suitable for commercial development.

Landrushes seem to continue to be money makers for registrars. As for registering .me domains. I prefer to just go to the casino if I want a crap shoot.
