Thanks a bunch for posting the article Watcher, originally I thought that the iPhone was a tad bit expensive but with the addition of more features and a lower price I will definately consider purchasing one for myself.

This is why I never buy something that just comes out. History has told itself over any over again, there will either be massive problems with the new product, or they will come out with a better one 6 months out.
I'm glad I waited, but unfortunantly I will wait more because I refuse to become an AT&T client and pay all the data extra usage charges for the iphone.

iphone plans are around the same as smartphone and blackberry phone plans with other carriers such as verizon. blackberry plans actually cost more than iphone plans. $199 is cheap. who cares about sigining a contract, you have to do that with verizon and other companies too. Cancelling a contract isnt a big deal anyway its only like $200 or less fee, not like its $20k to cancel a contract, lol, people act like its impossible to do.
i was one of the freaks that waited in line 6 hours to get my iphone when it first came out...i have to say, buying this device was the best decision... and now with the 3g its gonna be so much faster.... and the new software is going to open up mobile computing to a whole new level.... i know i sound like a walking talk apple ad but its true.... those of you who have an iphone should agree.... this next version is going to change mobile phones more than ever before..... if anyone has some time to kill watch the apple keynote and you'll be amazed at what this phone is gonna be able to do in a few short weeks.....

I will probably end up getting one. I'm a big apple fan. I am one of those geeks who watch every keynote Jobs does lol. I liked the iPhone a lot before I saw the keynote. After I watched it I was in awe!!! Especialy considering those amazing apps!
Yeah it's all about the apps! I mean the GPS and 3G will be sweet but the apps are what will make this thing so wicked good! Ive been an apple freak since the ipod basically.... was lucky enough to buy a little bit of apple stock back when it was 20 bucks a share... wish i had bought more though (dont we all?).... but this phone is gonna be amazing and its gonna be like a mini laptop for us..... im so stoked for it!
I will have to do more research on the iPhone then to see what it can do that blackberry can't. If it truly is as amazing as people say, well then I will try to get an unlocked phone so I can use it on a good network. Honestly I would have no problem buying an iPhone if they weren't so proprietary as apple is. I still to this day have not downloaded iTunes for this reason. They are only adding to their image by only allowing AT&T to provide their phones. Sad to say.. apple has some awesome ideas and would gain more business but they say "you have to do things OUR way.. with our software.. with our providers.. etc". I'm not down for that.
its an APPLE LOVE FEST!!!!! yeah i just love where its headed.... the future looks so bright in regard to all this stuff.... i have an imac right now and im just imagining one day when i can touch the screen on it just like the iphone to edit, or deal with pictures, etc..... its totally heading towards 'minority report' status just not quite yet.....
You might not like their gameplan but their products are of the HIGHEST quality despite speculation and their business plan rakes in 28 billion a year.
I understand your argument and partially agree.... Apple needed a carrier though to use with the iPhone...Believe me im sure they want this phone to work on as many carriers as possible as well..... i wont speculate as to why Apple chose ATT to be locked in with from the start but im sure it needed to happen in some regard. And in 2010 i believe the contract runs out and by then the iPhone user base should be large enough they wont need to stick with any particular carrier, as well as some of the legislation that is trying to pass regarding being 'locked in' with certain carriers etc.... so in this regard i wouldnt blame Apple entirely. But i hear what youre saying.
Apple originally contacted Verizon Wireless, but VZW declined due to the fact that Apple wanted residuals from iPhone customer's monthly phone bills. AT&T was willing to do this. Now AT&T is going to pay Apple 1 billion dollars to be able to carry the iPhone instead of sharing monthly revenue.
yeah im not sure if its a cut and dry deal like that but ATT is subsidizing the phones instead now which is why they are cheaper so for each iphone apple now sells.... they make more than 199 on it... i just dont know how the numbers crunch out.... but im sure they are in apples favor...
anyway if youve been reading these posts, get an iphone.... you wont regret it.
