New Cover Story at DNJournal.com: Inside the War Room at Enom's Club Drop

The August Cover Story is now out at DNJournal.com:

Inside a Drop Catcher’s War Room: How eNom Arms Maker Chris Ambler Is Turning The Tide for Club Drop

The mechanics of the drop have always been a mystery to most people. Ambler, who is on the front lines daily as the author of Enom's Club Drop software, takes you inside the war room to show you how it's done. This timely article comes just as Club Drop is starting to mount a serious challenge to the current drop catching champion - Pool.com. It's a story you won't want to miss!

I enjoyed the article likewise. I tried to download and use DropShark but it threw an error (even though I run Windows XP). I really don't want to install .NET just to try out the program... Too bad

Thanks for your comments on the article everyone. I enjoyed writing it and I thought Chris had a very interesting story to tell. His software does require you to download the .NET Frameworks to run it (doesn't come in Win XP which I also run). After I got the free .NET download, which installed easily, the program ran fine though.

great article- would have liked to have learned more about the status of .web registrations - Chris has said for years that this is still pending, looks like we just lost our money.

Two quick points:

1. Yes, DropShark requires the .NET Frameworks. I made the decision to develop in .NET because of the benefits it provides. If you're not keen on installing .NET, I understand, but then DropShark isn't for you, alas.

2. I still believe that ICANN will be forced by the Department of Commerce to revisit the pending applications from 2000, and I believe that .Web is at the front of that list. If anyone thinks I've given up on it, they're sadly mistaken. I have not. But at the pace that ICANN moves, I can only sit and wait (like everyone else).

Hey Chris! Great to see ya here!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=42097

Here's hoping .mail goes through soon too - which will help us eNom ETPs as well...

One thing - any plans on integrating status checking on past lists in DropShark?

That is to say, say I have a list of words/names I've made up (independantly from the d/l drop lists) that I import and I want to check the status, I can use many other tools to see if they're regged, but it'd be great if DropShark could check them...

Another tool I use that I like that I bet you'd get a kick out of is:
Domain Grab Wizard
(It checks every domain on a page as you surf the internet for domains that are available to reg)
http://www.preoccupy.com/ (Click on Free Software)
From Thread:
http://www.namepros.com/showthread.p...ight=preoccupy

Love DropShark though!!! Gotta wait a pay or two before dropping there and not into my eNom account... (would be a nice perk for ETPs hint hint)

Welcome to NamePros...

That sounds like a good feature, actually. I'll add that to the 2.0 list and see how it prioritizes.
