Caution $750,000 domain sale on Sedo

There is strong rumor of a $750,000 domain sale on Sedo.

I'll update this thread as soon as the domain name is known.

Looks like Sedo is hitting the big time with KerryEdwards.com at $150k+ and now this.

To tide us over while we wait, seems like Sedo also just helped sell "single.co.uk" for 24,600 euros (sorry old news).

Afternic just posted DebtCollection.com for $11,000 as well.

Very perky summer I'd say.

Can one or two big sales commissions really sustain a company that has expanded so fast in recent months?

No word yet, but from what is being said so far, its a generic keyword.

So for that price, I'm willing to bet it's a .com, and looking at what's out there, I am wondering if it might be one of these:

website.com
ecommerce.com
pharmacy.com
paintings.com
marriage.com

My money is on website.com for now, but this is just a guess out of the blue, don't take it as fact.

Those domains do not need a Sedo listing to be sold at a spectacular price.

Ya. I think a few others that'd be worth a lot are things like Games.com, freegames.com, freestuff.com, download.com, etc. You know, the things people look for on the internet all the time. I'd rather have a TV commercial than an awesome domain, though!

If that is in regard to aww's mention of DebtCollection.com above, the sale went through as normal and we disbursed the funds to the seller in July.

What's wrong with afternic.

I've had no problems there. Some stolen domains were sold there though.. allthough I think they should invest in $99 a year at whois.sc and do a little research before they let a sale go through .

I heard the old owners were horrible though.

I'm not so sure they make their money on the domain sales. Most sales are $xxx, and 10% of nothing is.....not a lot! Six figure sales are few & far between.

Look at the parking program for the big bucks. Sedo keep 25% of the revenue from Google & I can't begin to guess how many hits a day they must get to the parking pages - but I do know they made about $800 on my traffic alone last month.

It's also worth remembering that they don't have many staff to pay, so the overheads are not that great and do not rise in proportion to the size of the site.

Anyway, untill someone better comes along ... SEDO

In a DNJournal cover story a while back, Sedo was said to have, "around 35 but growing fast!"
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=39914

If on average the 35 employees made $30K USD a year, then they would need $1M a year just to cover salaries...

Yeah, it's probably a generic key word. And I too enjoy SEDO. I don't make much money off it, but I just like the feel of the site xD

How much did KerryEdwards.Com sell for?
