I would have thought a country name would receive many more results than 178

I think it`s Portuguese! But i don`t know, why there are only 178 results... Show movìes.com - it`s Portuguese too, but has 133 results too and was sold for 5k Euros!

I have found this for information...:

I don't think it is Portuguese; "movìes" isn't Portuguese either...

I read on another forum that Thailand in Portuguese would be "Tailândia" or more commonly "Tailandia"

There were several sales of this type of domains specifically on SEDO.
That doesn't make them actual words in any language and it is more likely that the buyer was as unaware as you are when it comes to IDNs

These type of domains serve no purpose other than to decieve people into thinking they are getting something that should cost a lot of money for a ridiculously low price.

It is a simple case of appealing to peoples greed ... they see something for a cheap price and think they are getting a bargain ...

So if that's the road you want to travel down then here are some domains that are free to register ...

lоan.com
mоrtgage.com
gamblе.com
seх.com

You should be able to get 20 or 30 million Euros each for these

It's not German. It's a made-up word. There are only 185 results in google for "Thaìland"
