Important! First 4 IDN cctlds passed review

Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates are the first countries to have their proposed IDN cctlds pass the ICANN evaluation process.

More info

Enjoy

so they are the extensions ? sorry for sounding dumb , or their own languages followed by .com or cctld

show an example with extension please

so what does that mean if you had an existing tldcc , or does it just convert at their end , lets's say japan gets their own .symbol would a .jp become redundant ? or just convert

Yea, they are the new IDN cctld extentions [top level domains].
Now for the other question. It depends on the local cctld [and who manages it] weather or not it would be aliased to the new IDN cctld.

So, take for example United Arab Emirates.
Their current ascii cctld is .ae
Their new IDN cctld will be .امارات

If the same agency manages both cctlds, they can choose to alias one to the other, or not. ICANN has mentioned that it's up to the cctld operators to decide which route to take.
