Question about "(The)" in front of Arabic words

I've always wondered, with Arabic names why do they have the combination of both "Word" & also "(The)Word", eg. Religion or (The)Religion?

Which one would be more valuable & more used, with or without "(The)"?

I am confused by all of this & any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is as simple as one religion/culture segregating it's self from all the rest.
To emphasize "the" in title means you are the singular, only, no other ... etc. A slight
against all other religions/cultures is how I take it.

Of course this is hyperbole on my part and I really have no knowledge to the reason.

I'll make sure to check back in hopes that one of our members has a valid answer.

TdotTrader is right. "The" in Arabic is used when your referring or talking about something.

Why do you go to school?

Why do you go to the school(almadrasa)?

I guess you can say, for general purposes, "the" is used when speaking about a noun/object. I would have to say that a domain with "al", "el", has the same value as a domain without.

This is my point of view based on the experience I've had with Arabic as a first language and in school. I don't visit arabic domains, or own any.
