It would mainly depend on the TLD and the market you are targetting. As a general rule, go with Simplified...

Use Traditional for Taiwan or Hong Kong, though you see more and more Simplified making it's way into HK these days.

with .hk and .cn you receive both the Simplified and Traditional versions, regardless of which one you register.

Also IDNS are being used widely in China, and that trend will only continue.

I agree. Simplified is used primarily in Mainland China. Hong Kong and Taiwan use traditional characters. Many Chinese can read both, but in terms of numbers more people can read simplified Chinese than traditional.

You should use Simplified chinese charcaters rather than Traditional mainly because nowadays, most Chinese around the world reads Simplified chinese more than Traditional.

get rid off IDN if u can.....especially while killer keywords already gone(even those I doubt its value)...as people mentioned above, English or Pinyin .com is ur first option if not only option...

It's kind of like when Ross Perot said 'there will be a huge sucking sound' (and I'll adlib) away from ascii domains to IDNs in China.

The writing is on the (great) wall.

Haha. Get traditional if you are targetting taiwan or HK, simplified for China.

None if you are a naysayer.
