I'm wondering, what extensions are IDNs allowed in?
I know from using Dynadot.com that .com, .biz, .net, .org, .info, .cn .tv, .cc, and .ws all allow IDN symbols, but do any other extensions? (Such as .co.uk, .ca
or .fr?). Ifso, where can I register these?
So many other country codes allow their own country's script including my favorites .JP and .TH for japanese and thai. Here's a nice example I like because it's mine: http://สีลม.th
Registration restrictions can limit their usefulness in some cases though. Technically .VN allows vietnamese language registrations but good luck dealing with those corrupt f%#&*@s at VNNIC.
Yes registered citizen or company required in order to register domain. Many countries are like that including a dandy .BR and so many more. But many times if you look around you'll find proxies willing to register the domain and pass control to you. Some element of risk there, but hey - that's part of what makes IDN so much fun!
Country codes are the sleepers of the IDN world. We see from mature markets like Germany and increasingly Japan that more knowledgeable users become more inclined to type in their own country code. so IDN.ccTLD is a natural.

I see that a lot of people have answered which extensions support IDN's, but no one has answered the questions of where this is possible. I know that EuroDNS does not support IDN registrations. So, where do you register the more common IDN extensions, like .DE, .ES? Where can we register .BR or .PT names?

Start at the registry for the country code you want - they typically have a list of the approved registrars... might be a small list, or even they may be the only ones registering the names but it's a place to start.
