Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese?

When registering IDNs, is it better to go for Traditional or Simplified Chinese or both? Which one is worth more & has greater potential?

As you can see, I'm a newbie in IDNs. Haven't registered any but thinking about getting into them.

I think you get both? I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully some of the more experienced Chinese IDNers can answer the question--but from what I do know is that you should go simplified (that's the only form I purchase with Chinese IDNs).

Hard to say.

Once you regged one version the another version is then blocked for reg.
You should always target simp Chinese.

go with simplified.

(unfortunately), the chinese are increasingly using simplified and in a decade, few will even know how to write things traditionally and understand the true meaning of the words.

Yes, go with simplified for .com/.cn, Though if you're scooping up cctld's like .tw, then you might want to go traditional which is the standard there.

Right. From what I understand traditional is mainly spoken in Hong-Kong and Taiwan. If Mainland China is your target, go for the simplified.

its not a way of speaking @ yanni it's a way of writing.

Think for long term - simplified is the future. United Nations, Malaysia and Singapore are follow the standard of China mainland. I am from Malaysia I can read Chinese Traditional, but may not able to write.

It doesn't matter if you can write or not. I matters if you can type.

You should definitely go with the simplified IMHO. It's 'coz:
-simplified is used in mainland China (billions of people; millions upon millions of net users).
- anyone who can read/write/type traditional characters can read/write/type simplified but not necessarily the other way round.
- simplified is modern, and modern is probably what you might want to consider (more searches and many people are moving from traditional to simplified).
