Y is it considered a vowel by some. Usually the rule for llll.com's is if it helps the pronounceability of the name it's considered a vowel (judy, pody, boby, cody, rudy).

Y at the front of the word is called a glide, as in your, you, young, yap. The sound is tighter than the usual /ee/.

W works the same way. At the end of some words, w represents u, as in how, sow, few.

W at the front of a word like wax is, again, a tighter sound than the u at the end of a word.

Although there are eleven actual vowel sounds in English, we only have the five written vowels of A, E, I, O, and U that we got from the Roman alphabet. Latin is a five-vowel language like Spanish and Japanese. Because y and w can represent two of the vowel sounds, they are said to sometimes be vowels
