![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How to make vector outlines in Photoshop? OK, I recently found out that you could do vector design in Photoshop - big plus ![]() But, you know when you make a shape in vector in Photoshop, then select it, then go to Select > Modify > Expand to expand the selection to make the stroke with a little white bit between the stroke and the object? Well, you can't stroke the selection on the same layer as the object, so you create a new one, then go to Edit > Stroke, but it's not vector! So, when you resize it it goes pixellated. Is there any way you can make it so that when you stroke the selection, it is vector so that, if you merge the layers and increase the size of them, they are both resized like vectors so no pixellation occurs? I know this sounds really confusing, I have tried to be as detailed as I can! So, anyone understand this and can help me or is this just not possible? ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/graphic-design-flash/91844-how-to-make-vector-outlines-photoshop.html Thanks in advance, Will. |

![]() | in photoshop cs you cannot run a wand on a path other than text..your best bet would be to run in hi res keep your vector based layer, duplicated it , rasterize that one, run your expansion or contract selection , pc right click or mac cntrl click ,than make work path.it is important to do this at as hi res as possible because you are making a selection based upon pixels and therefore if you are in lo res like 72 dpi, your work path will look shoddy. when your done you can export paths to illustrator or freehand. hope this helps |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | OK, a different question now: How can you merge vector layers? Coz, when I use the pen tool and do seperate section, they are all made in new layers. And, to merge them all into one (so I can resize, etc) I have to rasterize and thus removing the vector. Any ideas? |

![]() | when you are working with the pen tool or the selection tool as well, you have icons up top to select from the following options, add to shape, subtract from shape,intersect,exclude..take advantage of these tools as much as possible.when you want to add to a desired shape you can select the layer than select the pen tool with add to shape.anything you draw will be modifing your current layer |
