How's my drawing?

Right, I've decided to try and get into drawing on the computer. Here is my first attempt at drawing a cartoon character from scratch:

I'm just looking to get feedback from you guys about it. Please bear in mind this is my first try, ever at drawing cartoons, so keep that in your head when you give me your opinions!

Thanks,

Will.

There's always room for improvement in every designer's work As I've said anyway, I'm new to this stuff. I really didn't expect to get so many kind comments though!

Great start dude ,

Check out ConceptArt.org for some great tutorials,

Great one here http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18980

Also in Photoshop make sure you make good use of the dodge and burn tools, using these tools ads great depth to your illustrations.

Good Luck

Draw draw draw

You have to crawl before you can walk or run and it looks like you've got a good start. The best advice I think anyone can give someone learning to draw is plain and simply: Draw all the time. As often as you can. Carry a sketchpad with you always, draw what you see, either physically or in your mind and do it as often as possible. If you ride the bus or a subway to get around, draw on the bus / subway. No class, tutorial, book or anything you can spend money on will be as valuable as the time you spend, daily if possible, honing your skills.

Cheers

yep nice work Will. More you practice the better you get. Don't be scared of trying new things, such as shading shadows on the face caused by the nose etc. Also with the shading technique you dont have to have black lines everywhere.
