How would anyone know to compare? At best it would be "out of NamePro members, whose portfolios have you seen, and which do you like best?" I suspect most of the designers on this forum have not had their work seen by other members.

I agree, PolurNet tops my list! Very professional work, and to the requirements, IMO.

Great job!

Wow, thanks for the kudos guys!

redhippo: learn ps/fireworks as I tell you, and you'll be like me soon thx for the vote
True_Snake: You're always there for encouragement, thanks! Your own designs are quite nice whenever you enter them... do enter as many contests as you can, and you'll see that you'll get more recognition and a nice portfolio
DomainMania: Yup, we make the "dream-team" combo for logo/banners

I'm sure there are many others too who deserve recongition... I'm sure that without their competiveness, our skills wouldn't be as good

PolurNET has done some good designs, seems to shoot them out fast over at KDPC as well.. Always good submissions into contests around here. Board is filled with good designers, hardest part about running a contest here, is only picking just one.

PolurNet i need to have stickers designed (simple design, shouldnt take long at all)

it would be great if u could give it a try. for now dont do them in high res. just do mock-ups and i'll let u know which ones to do in real size. the company is an online hotel & holiday booking web site.

i need three stickers:

the first:
size: 15x10cm
wording: 'line 1' book online with 'logo'. 'line 2' instant confirmation.
images: attached logo + stuff u might deem suitable

the second:
size: 10x10cm
wording: 'line 1' discount hotel rates, low prices guaranteed. 'line 2' instant bookings, savings of up to 75%.
images: attached logo + stuff u might deem suitable

the third:
size: 20x7.5cm
wording: discount hotel rates, low prices guaranteed
images: attached logo + stuff u might deem suitable
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=56800

if i like ur work i will send a full size logo for the high res images.

THANKS!

anyone else please feel free to give it a shot!

Yeah... see... I'm going to just go with "nobody knows". The only REAL test would be to simply hold a contest on the boards, and see who comes out of the woodworks and gets voted the best. An idle question basically draws out very limited experiences and... well, frankly self-promotion.

I hear someone around here has an "ImageVote" script that could put the question to rest. :: drum-roll :: The first semi-annual NamePros.com logo contest!

Well, NP did have many GFX contests a few months ago (I think I participated in at least 10 of them), so that's the reason for people knowing my designs, etc. But more of these will be nice, however with a busy life right now, I'm not sure if I can participate in as many as before

I really would like to thank everyone for their modesty in saying that they think my designs are very good, but we all know that NP GFX talent is present everywhere... so we're all winners and gr8 artsits!

Cheers!

Yeah, I'm sure many many professional designers/artists here would not participate in ANY contest, unless there was a serious benefit to it. I know I wouldn't.

But, maybe the answer is only meant to be who is "best *known*" on this board and not who is the "best" on the board. Just happening past this post, I felt it was worth pointing out the limitations of the answer one is likely to get. Lots of the college and high school students would definitely be favored more than the full-time freelancers who mostly get their business through the online talent pools and not messageboards. I've been a designer for years in a number of areas 3D, cartooning, animation, logo design, web design, illustration... but aside from idle conversation, I don't see any reason to promote my services here. I'm mostly on this board and others like it in a purely entrepreneurial capacity.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=56800
It would be interesting to hold and promote a contest with some teeth to it (something moderately valuable), to draw a response from the full membership. I think 2Checkout's (new website) contest a ways back really brought some designers out of the woodwork for promotional reasons. I believe they used RJ's "image vote" system too.

The best designers on a messageboard aren't likely to enter any contest the comes along as idle time is often a very scarce commodity for those in high demand, or trying to make a living.

My two cents.

I don't completely agree really, I think any designer who is professional or NOT, should be willing to participate, not just for the prize money or perks, but for fun, creativity and experience. Through this, one can learn a lot from past designs and maybe someone browsing the samples would be interested in such a design. (it happened to many people like that)

Anyway, if one has time, it's always interesting to see how these contests go. Money or not, I think NP contests are a great idea already

i'm very picky in the contests i enter, regardless of the prize involved, i only enter if it gets my creative juices flowing.

I do think a big design contest would be cool, regardless of what the prize may be, i'd like to even see maybe a special icon in the post bit for the winner?
