![]() | Best Video Format? Whats the best video format in terms of compression? I have learnt WMV is better than AVI. Anyone have experience in this and know better format? Thanks Alex

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've done a ton of video editing and IMO, WMV is the best for videos your hosting online. A number of reasons fo rthis, but mainly that most already have the software to run it on their system and it doesnt spam you with ads like Quicktime and RealPlayer does.. Not to mention all the options in how it allows you to configure it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I know AVI is a container, and I think .WMV is, so neither has a size advantage directly, it depends on the codec you then use within that container. I guess mpeg4 is considered the current best to use that is generally available.

![]() ![]() | in terms of compression, i would go with DivX or XviD. these require codecs to be intstalled. divx is commercial, but is more widely used than xvid (and the variants). if you're going to put video on a website, I might even go with converting the video to flash (flv)... as all that is required is at least flash 6 plugin (a few years old). |
