You can't use a photo in a logo. You need to use a drawing/illustration or just text. Besides, that web 2.0 effect on the photo is just terrible. That effect is supposed to be used on shiny surfaces that reflect light.
I have never seen such a bad logo for a long time. You misunderstood everything that was possible to misunderstand. |

A logo includes a text and an icon (mostly vector).
4/10 |

· #4 | | New Member | Web 2.0 effect? It was made in GIMP.
If you're talking about the halfway...
Well, I can tell you what I did.
Made a rounded rectangle; did a repeated gradient as a background, made a Supernova effect at the right side, put in a re-sized render, feathered it, added a red border, put an effect on (don't remember the name), made another border with a less solid opacity, wrote 'Kerplunk', added a border, added a halfway.
And some people on gimptalk.com (where the GIMP experts are) rated it about 7 and 8. |

| As a logo i would go for a 3/10 because of the reasons marcello said.
Now as a signiture for a forum or something like that i would give it a 7/10.(if you size it down a bit)
Now as a banner i would say it could work but they are generally thinner. |

I'm working on the site, but I don't know if I'll finish it.
It doesn't seem to be your style, but lots of people like it not on these forums.
But forums have different ideas of good and bad things, so I understand you may think this is different because I go on forums completley different to this. |

| You can use this as a header image but get rid of the opacity. It is something that we use with buttons. This is not a button so why are you putting a light reflection effect ? (I mean the half transparent white area on the upper half) It is just terrible.
As a header image it is not so bad but you need to make it wider and thinner. Something like 950x150px would be very good.
A logo is a shape, image, text combination that represents the identity of something. Represent the identity means that you need to create it in such a way that you are able to put it on different objects and places.

you seem to have a good grasp of the technical, but the design side is lacking a bit.
it would be ok as a sig, as stated above, but the gradient background doesnt fade, and the shine over the top looks a bit odd |

· #12 | | New Member | Not so great for a logo. I wouldnt rate it rubbish because anything you spend time on and put effort and creativity into is worth something to you if not anyone else. You need to think and learn more about what a LOGO is. Its not that this image is a bad logo. Its just simply not a logo. Its a montage of sorts. Google logo design and look at some other logos. Youve got the technical aspect going but you should check out some principles of logo design. |

| Hey Donkey,
Why do you have a deer in your avatar, and not a donkey?
Oh well, I have to agree with the rest of the group here.
It's not a logo.
It's a picture, edited, and looks kinda cool for like...a magazine cover.
But Most Importantly...
Who is that?
Is that the singer of Green Day?
I think it is, and if so...
THAT IS DEFINITELY A NO-NO!
Good Luck,
Red Rock! |
