Hello,

I have attempted this masking tutorial several times but always get stuck because I am new at this and don't know some of the tools.

Ok I get stuck at this part of step 4:

"Double click the movieclip and go into symbol editing mode. You now have all the lines in the movieclip on layer 1. Rename layer 1 to "Mask" by double clicking on the layer name. select all the lines again and got to Modify > Shape > Convert Lines to Fills. Now lock the layer, we will come back to it later. "

Where is this movieclip I double click on?

Ok now step 5:

"Insert a new graphic symbol (CTRL + F8), name it "chrome" and do a nice rectangle and linear gradient fill it. "

How do I make the linear gradient?

If someone can guide me through this and I make it past this part I'll let you know if I need help with the other steps.

haha... sorry nobody has responded so far.

heres what you do:

once you make all the lines, you have to make them all one movieclip (press F8, then click Movie Clip -> OK)

then, double click the movie clip (of the lines) to bring it into editing mode. et c etc etc



for the linear gradient: just look at the pictures. click the rectangle tool, then (if you are using flash MX) for the colors, go down to the bottom of that color select and there will be a gradient (black to white fade). click that, then in the top right box you can edit your gradient.
