Question transparent gif images

I'm trying to make and image with a trasparent background for the navigation bar on this page:

http://www.geocities.com/elleyenda/water.html

Right now I just have some text there that you can barely see, but anyway, when I try to save my image (which will serve as a link instead of the crummy text) as a gif, the edges get really gross looking. Pixelated. Is there any solution for this problem?

ill asume your using photoshop

when you save your image (file > save for web) there should be a color on the options bit (cant rmeember what its callled) try to match that best with the color behind your image

if it still look horrible after that you may have set your image widths wrong in the html page

This is to do with the "matte" settings, try some different methods when saving the gif as above with the matte option, either match your matte to either a dark or light color and also try no matte, different things work for different people and situations,

Hope this helps

Hey oblivious,

Keep the text there and use the CSS already in the code to adjust your colors, font size, and hover color Just add in some more variations likeadjust the "normal")

font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; TEXT-DECORATION:

or put in a table with 5 cells - make a small shaded gif whatever size 5x5 and fill each cell with the gif 100% x 100% size place your anchor link in the cell or

well there's a lot of ways you can do it an precerve your anchor links ...play
