How to make a template?

Hi

What is the best reource to use to learn how to make a template? I have photoshop now and would really like to learn how to make templates.

think you should first ask what kind of template do I need/want?
going to sell it? use it?
for what use is it?

a template for a family vacation site is different then a template for a professional hosting company...

Well, i would like to make lots of different kinds of templates.

First though i would just like to practice making simple ones and then build up from there.

I just don't know where to begin.

well.. I think the most simple templates would be

at the top a banner
at the left a navigation bar
at the right place for your content

keep ur size 800x600px or lower... most people use that(or higher)

can't really explain how to make a template..

and try to look at some other templates.. get some inspiration, see how they make templates etc...
only look... don't steal/copy

I started doing templates with just css and html, if you haven't tried that already, start there. Once you get graphics in the mix it gets trickier.
