orb-like explosion?

do you all know how to make an orb-like explosion effect? There is a circle which is semi-transparent and its an orb ( an eclipse ) and emits a substantial amount of light at the middle and thus looks like it is exploding from the inside. Yes... you could say it should look like a hologram or something. How do I do that in PHotoshop? Have been searching all over the web, but nothing.

Deathdart is on a distinguished road

I could probably do it in Corel Photopaint 10, but I don't really use Photoshop very much. It's too much of a hassle.

Okay, basically what you're after is the explosion effect, and not necessarily the orb, right? (Sorry I'm lazy tonight but will help you with the explosion here). It'd be too long to list a tutorial here so here's what you an do.

1. Open a new image (File -> New) and fill it with any color you want.

2. Go to Filter -> Render -> Difference Clouds
(This creates a random pattern. do this one or more times as you wish)

3. Filter -> Pixelate -> Mezzotint
(Choose medium or long "lines" or "strokes" as you like)

4. Filter -> Blur -> Radial Blur
4a. Select an amount of say, 80
4b. Set blur method to ZOOM
4c. Keep the quality at "good" for now

(Note, the quality is still kinda rough at this point. that's ok)

5. Do the same again as above (Filter -> Blur -> Radial Blur), but with slightly altered settings:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/graphic-design-flash/17658-orb-like-explosion.html
5a. Select a smaller amount (say, 40)
5b. (Keep blur method at zoom)
5c. Set your quality now to "best"

Voila, your explosion effect.

The orb is far simpler to do and you should be able to do it on your own now.
