Thumbs down Horrible Quality Score system?

***EDIT*** - I just realized I put this in the Adsense forum, if there's an Adwords forum could the mods move it? Sorry!>>
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/google-adsense/576896-horrible-quality-score-system.html

I'm relatively new to Adwords, I ran a campaign in 2007 and didn't follow it much, now I just started one last month to promote my domain reseller site.

So, does anyone else have massive problems with quality score? To sum it up, my site is PranaDot .com, a simple GoDaddy reseller site. I run 6 ad variants all regarding domain registration and/or hosting.

So despite the direct correlation to the keywords "register a domain" and "register domain", my quality score on those is 4/10. And I have plenty of 5's, 6's, and 7's too on completely perfect keywords for seemingly no reason. Most of them should be 8 at LEAST for relevance.

Conversely, some keywords I use like "hosting comparison" ,which are 100% LESS relevant than "register a domain", get an 8/10! The whole system seems broken. Am I doing something really wrong or is this quality score thing on ongoing issue for everyone using Adwords?

keep in mind that quality score is determined by much more than just relevance.

Quote:
quality score: An advertisement score established by an ad network that is based on factors such as an ad’s click through rate (CTR), relevance of its landing page, and historical keyword performance. Quality scores allow higher quality websites to advertise cheaper through lower bid requirements.

You didn't say what your landing page is, but f you're using your home page as a landing page, I'm surprised you're even getting that. Google likes original content and hates bridge pages, which is what that is (you basically just framed the reseller site).

Thanks guys, very interesting, I'll look into it more deeply but at first glance alot of things still don't gel though. Like since the QS is based on "an ad’s click through rate (CTR), relevance of its landing page, and historical keyword performance." than still the numbers for "hosting comparison" and "register a domain" should be exactly opposite.
My site or ads have 0 to do with "hosting comparison" and the CTR on it is very low compared to "register a domain" even considering volume.
I would love to see the quality scores of some the other GoDaddy resellers using Adwords, all their sites are similar to mine. I can understand how Google loves original content for SEO and such, but it sucks they extend their favoritism to Adwords since we're paying to be there.
