microsoft just bid 31$ for yahoo.maybe at last someone one will give google some meaningful competition.Don't know if they will get by antitrust. But with google controling70% of search there should be no problem with merger. it is nice to see someone with cash to slow down the master of the internet;google.
This could be a very good move - at least at first for webmasters. If they do merge, they will need to move aggressively into a market already dominated by google, so how do the best do that? Why by offering higher returns to publishers to get them on the new service of course. Google in turn when they see publishers leaving will be forced to offer more.
Right now yahoo doesn't offer webmasters outside of the US to use their service unless you have some very serious traffic - pretty much the same for Microsoft - only stricter.
For the first year or so they will really go at one another and we could be the beneficiaries. Once the dust settles though...
