What Adsense Ad type converts better?

The Skyscrapper/wide skyscrapper ad that sits on the left/right side of the website resembling a menu or 'related articles'

Or

The medium/large rectangles that you embedd in the article/content?

The medium/large rectangles embedded in articles always have preformed better for me.

Rectangles, in my opinion, would always rank better. But placing them in middle of the content may be irritating to the users

Medium/large rectangles embedded with text blocks do convert best I think.

Both convert well, but skyscraper ads on the left do much better than skyscraper ads on the right. I use a combination of a left side skyscraper, a square block in the center, and a link unit further down.
