how much does google adsense pay?

i'm wondering whether or not to activate my account with them. i don't like the idea that they have my ssn and tax ID number, shoe size, etc. Unless they pay well, I don't know if it's really worth it... I don't think they should have that information about me UNTIL i make enough money for tax purposes...
i dunno..... maybe that's just me.
at any rate, how much do they pay usually, and it is pay per click right?

Depends on the ads that are on your site, which are dictated by your site content.

You'll never know until you put it on your site. Make sure your site is getting some decent traffic, then apply. If you are rejected, you can always reapply.

Youll never find out what others are really making because Google doesnt allow us to talk about what we make from them. The last time I read the terms it said we was not to talk about earnings or even acknowledge we had the ads on our sites.

Plus as others here have said, each site varies. It depends on content and other stuff.

Oh. Hmm. Can't talk about earnings? That's too bad, I was hoping someone could tell me what content sites pay the best with google ads. My guess was like casino and loans, but I don't know.
Thanks for the responses though! cheers,
johnny

I could ......But I cant talk about specifics

A website can earn $$$ when an ad from the google adsense program is clicked on. The amount it pays varies but there are several ways for you to find out what advertisers are paying for clicks elsewhere IE: Overture and base your gestimations on those figures.

Does google pay a flat % of what adwords customers pay to Google, per click, to adsence publishers?

google doesn't say what percentage it pays to publishers.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/google-adsense/32484-how-much-does-google-adsense-pay.html

I believe they recently switched to a sliding scaled based on the perceived value of the click to the advertiser.

IE: a click on a review site for a digital camera would probably earn more than a click on a list of links for digital cameras (this was the example google gave).

My advice for anyone considering adsense is to just signup, put it on your site (there is not much "effort" to weigh in on the "is it worth it" issue).

Test it out for a month. Try out different ad formats, different placements, different color schemes.

For most sites, it is very "worth it".

If it doesn't earn you money after a month or two of testing, then just dump it and remove the code from your site. There are so many variables involved, it's really best to try it out yourself.

Just don't click your own ads (for any reason...even "testing"), don't try to cheat the system, and read the TOS and FAQ very closely.

Lots of adsense info/questions/answers can be found at WW:

I see that reference to the TOS all the time on these boards... I'd love to know what the secret is that Google has for creating this "big fear". You're not suppose to pirate music, movies and software but at any given time there are 6 million users on Kazaa. If only RIAA could figure out Google's secret to keeping people in line.

People are talking, just not openly because everyone loves to quote the TOS as soon as you mention Adsense.
