3 Free Credit Reports, No "Free Trial" BS, FTC.gov endorsed.

Dave (dgridley) posted this back in May, but the thread was closed and could not be bumped.

I just ordered 3 credit reports (one from each agency) and it took about 5 minutes. I was skeptical about using the site until I found information about it on the federal trade commission's website.

Here's a little story as to why checking your credit often is very important.

I'm 21 now and living in New York. My little sister used my library card after I left home in Arizona, and she lost the books (without telling me). I was going to prequalify for a mortgage 2 weeks ago, when my broker told me I had a $24 unpaid debt for the past 4 years.

I've since fixed the problem, and just checked my reports to make sure it's off, and it is. I'd like to think a $24 debt would not keep me from getting a house, but you never know.

Anyone else try this? I can't believe I've never known about this. We had a big meeting at work, and we were told how to go about getting credit reports, but that involved signing up for the credit monitoring trials, etc. This is completely free!

Keep in mind that it is free once annually at each of the three sites...

I used it last year when I originally posted this.. very handy.. and may we mention again: FREE!

Did the experian one, I am going to use the others at a later date, since you only get one free a year at each site..

Credit isn't as bad as I thought.

Is that once every 12 months free or once in the year say 2005 free? Could I order them now and then order them again in 2 weeks? Just curious?

I'm pretty sure it's once per fiscal year, but don't quote me on that.
