Hi all

I'm now offering an own-branded version of my free domain name whois lookup software.

Full details can be found here, but heres a brief outline.

What is "own branded" software?

Own-branded means that all Whois-Software.com branding is removed from the software and replaced with your own website's branding.

Specifically:

• Your own custom title displayed on the softwares title bar
• Your business name and website url displayed in the software's "About" dialog box
• A link to your website in the software's "Links" menu (With the title "Your Company / Website Name Homepage")
• Links to as many of your other sites, or affiliate sites organized into your own categories in the "Links" menu
• (optionally) Your 1 line ad message (linked to a webpage) at the bottom of the software's window

You can then offer your own-branded copy of the software to your own website visitors, offer it as a free gift to members who join your site or forum, or even sell it*

Whois-Software.com's free whois software is a useful whois client for MS Windows. See the screenshot and description here for more info and a free download.

How the branding process works

Creating your own-branded version of the whois software is a simple 5-step process.

1. Download our branding tool *MS Windows only
2. Purchase a licence for $24.95 * you must specify the company / site name and url to use when purchasing
3. Enter your branding details in the branding tool and setup your links menus
4. Generate your whois software distribution zip archive (a simple menu selection)
5. Upload the zip file to your site and give it away! (zip file containing your software is generated by the branding tool)

* whilst you may sell copies of your own-branded version of the software, you should be aware that your customers may come across free versions with other company's branding on. They may then feel a bit miffed that they paid you for a copy. Sell copies at your own risk

Can i use this for multiple sites or is it like only one site per license.

You can give it away from multiple sites, and have multiple sites listed in the "Links" menu, and change the software title and ad text and link that appears at the bottom of the window for each site.

However, the company / website name and url listed on the "About" dialog, and as the first link on the "Links" menu ( see the screenshots on this page for an example) is fixed for each licence (cannot be changed).

So if you have a network of sites with one main site, you could have that as the company / website name & url, have links to your other sites on the menu, and change the ad text / url at the bottom of the window for each site. You can also change the software title (that appears on the title bar) - without buying a new licence - for example, you could create a "DNWinner Whois" and a "HostMeet Whois".
